Xarelto is used in people with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (a heart rhythm disorder) to lower the risk of a stroke caused by a blood clot.A clot can also occur after surgeries, like a knee or hip replacement. DVTs can start in the lower leg, thigh, pelvis, or arm. Xarelto is used to treat or prevent a type of blood clot called a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which can lead to a lung clot (pulmonary embolism or PE).It comes as a 2.5, 10, 15 or 20 mg tablet. Xarelto ( rivaroxaban) is a type of blood thinner taken by mouth once or twice a day. Prior to hospital discharge, patients should be counseled regarding the risk of thromboembolic events.In clinical trials, the other most common adverse reactions included local infusion site reactions, urinary tract infections, and pneumonia. Patients should be monitored for signs and symptoms of thromboembolic events.
